Lidl Hungary has inaugurated a significant logistics center in Kiskunfélegyháza, marking an investment of nearly 60 billion forints, approximately €162 million. This facility stands as the largest warehouse for the retailer in the country and is set to support around 70 Lidl stores.

Spanning over 83,000 square meters, the new center has already generated more than 400 jobs, and Lidl plans to recruit an additional 50 employees soon. The logistics hub is equipped with 194 loading docks and features a refrigerated section covering 24,000 square meters. In a move towards sustainability, the facility boasts a 9,000-square-meter rooftop solar installation and utilizes waste heat from its refrigeration system for underfloor heating.

Further enhancing its environmental efforts, Lidl has developed a 10,000-square-meter biodiverse green area surrounding the site. The operations at this center are expected to bolster Lidl’s supply chain across Hungary, with an estimated 4,500 pallets of goods dispatched daily.

Lidl’s presence in Hungary includes 220 stores, with nearly 60% of its products sourced from local suppliers. The establishment of this new logistics hub is a strategic step to facilitate the company’s expansion and reinforce its operations within the country.
